Staff who served during the Second World War - Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability

Staff who served during the Second World War

Staff who served their country

Adrian Liddell Hart

There is unfortunately very little information regarding the fate of the hospital staff who volunteered for the war effort. Information does however survive for members who served on the Board of Management, many of whom had a distinguished war record. These included Adrian Liddell-Hart (1922-1991), who was a naval officer during the Battle of the Atlantic, Brigadier Richard Montagu Villiers (1905-1973), commanding officer of the 46th brigade in North Africa and Italy, and Air Commodore Dennis Rixson (1918-1994), who flew with the No. 113 squadron in North Africa. Richard Montagu Villiers older brother, William, died at Ypres, aged 20.
